Put Not Your Trust In Princes

There was a little letter in First Things (June/July) from Adriana I. Pena, who says: “Put not your trust in princes [Ps. 146:3]…. You [First Things] tie yourself to a political party or a politician [George W. Bush] and you sink or swim with him. Now you are sinking. You gambled and you lost, so do what losing gamblers do: Pay what you owe, leave the table, and don’t whine.”

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

It puts us in the mind of that Kenny Rogers song, “The Gambler”:

You gotta…know when to fold ’em/

Know when to walk away and know when to run.
